JP006Teuri island

Site Description

Coastline

The site is located 28 km off shore from Haboro Town, and has a perimeter of 12 km. Eight species of sea birds breed on the vertical sea cliff on the west side of the island. The area consists of grassland with Calamagrostis arundinacea var. brachytricha, Reynoutria sachalinensis and Sasa sebanebsis, and woodlands with Plellodendron amurense and Acer mono. Though the climate is mild year round because of the Tsushima Current, it is always windy, especially in the winter, when very strong seasonal winds blow.
