Site Description

Wetlands

The Abukumagawa river with a total length of 239 km runs through Fukushima Prefecture. About 80 % of the river basin is in the mountain district. There are a number of waterfalls in various sizes and broadleaf trees near the river. Besides more than 40 species of fish, about 160 species of birds including swans and ducks have been observed in this area.
