Wetlands

Lake Shinjiko is a brackish lake located at the downstream area of the Hiigawa river in Shimane Prefecture. The lake is about 45 km around. Most coastlines are reinforced with concrete except the mouth area of the Hiigawa river where small crescents of sand and reed beds remain. Some rare species of fish occurs here.
