Site Description

Forest ;Wetlands

The site is located in the southwest of Hokkaido. The Yurappukawa river is 30 km long and has its sources in Mt. Yurappudake and Mt. Futorodake. The rivers have no dam nor barrier to control soil erosion along the area, so salmons come up some river tributaries. Because of the forest clearance, mainly of Fagus crenata, the quantity of water is decreasing.
