Site Description

Artificial landscapes (terrestrial); Wetlands

The site is located in the northwest of Akita Prefecture, covering the reclaimed dry lands in the center of 15,640 ha, and lake of 1,560 ha. which has been blocked from the Sea of Japan by water gates, making it a freshwater lake. Most reclaimed lands are farmlands, with windbreak forests, drainage canals and net-like roads. Farmlands are mainly paddy fields, and pastures, agricultural fields and fallow lands.
